The studio will debut the series as part of the Disney Channel’s “The Secret Adventures of Mina & Maddie” special.
The series is based on the classic book by Michael S. Hirsch, who has previously written for ABC News, Disney Channel and NBC.
“We are thrilled to be able to share this series with Disney Channel audiences,” Disney Chairman Bob Iger said in a statement.
“Mina & Madeline has been an inspiration to me for years and I couldn’t be more thrilled to work with them again to tell the story of the adventures of M.D. & M.A.”

M&Ms, an ocean explorer who discovers the secrets of the world, falls in love with M.M. and has the power to make her disappear.
In addition to the movie, the series will debut on ABC in fall 2019 and will be released by Disney Channel in spring 2020.
The ABC version of the series also will be available on Netflix.
